Fabulously Fit at Fifty!
If someone would have told me that at fifty I would be a size twelve and feel better than I have in years, I would have said you were nuts. However, I would not recommend this, but this is what worked for me. I had a sciatic nerve problem. What worked to get rid of some of the most egregious pain that I have ever felt was simple; I walked it away. Now you may say walked it away? How did you do that.

A Backyard Pool Is a Backyard Gym
Why is swimming one of the best fitness workouts of all time? Because, for those who are already strong swimmers, and love to swim for fun, then it doesn’t even seem like a workout at all. However, swimming is a workout, a great one, in fact. Swimming a few daily laps in your own backyard pool will actually show you unbeatable results just as much (if not more) as bike-riding, jogging, or even spending hours at the gym each day. To take a slight detour, I want to mention that all pools have the same perks whether they are inground pools in Virginia or self made pools in California. That is the beauty of pools. But, if you’re still not convinced that swimming alone provides amazing and unbeatable results, here’s five fitness reasons a backyard pool beats the gym.

The Gym: Embracing My Love/Hate Relationship
I was always an active child. I think growing up I tried every single sport that a kid can possibly do. Only two actually stuck: softball and volleyball. If I wasn’t at volleyball practice, I was at a softball game or supporting my brother with his sports. Sports and being active just ran in my family, and I’m so grateful that this healthy lifestyle was ingrained in my head at a young age. I do like working out. I just have a weird relationship with it.

How I Finally Started Working Out (Even Though I Hated It)
I always thought working out was just in my mind: that I wasn't working out regularly because I hadn't figured out how to train my brain to just do it, and not stop doing it. Feeling Comfortable in Your Own Skin
While waiting to board an airplane on my way home from the Dominican Republic, I was facing the stairs and could see other travelers walking to their gate.
