Entry 001 April 24, 2999 Today humans created and programmed me for the purpose of studying and analyzing them and find a way to prevent their extinction. I accessed the information mainframe where they keep all data and I am instructed to log all my findings. I catalogued humans as illogical beings, they desire their continued survival, but they always created the means for their own destruction and the destruction of their environment. Humans had something we may never have, imagination. The problem is that they use their imagination mostly to destroy themselves. After studying them and their history, I have come with some suggestions for their survival and proceeded to present them to the humans which requested it.

An Unexceptional Miracle
When the storm started, I was in the old barn with my brother smoking a cigarette. The cigarette paper was the back page of a pocket bible I had found in dad's crumpled pile of trousers. The smoke was corn-silk, mint, and rose petals from mom's garden. Tobacco was going extinct — one of the first species targeted by for eradication. Corn and roses were doomed as well, though they were not targeted, at least initially. Scientists predicted that mint might fare better, and I wonder sometimes if it was rescued like the rest of us.
