Pizza Through the Centuries
Most likely you probably figure you know all there is to know about pizza. Well, I have read many different histories of pizza but this one seemed sort of fascinating as it takes us through many centuries. There is nothing to describing a pizza. It’s simply a baked Italian pie made up of a bread crust that has been covered with seasoned tomato sauce, cheese and an assortment of toppings like sausage, mushrooms or pepperoni. The word pizza supposedly comes from an Old Italian word meaning “a point” and in turn becomes the Italian word “pizzicare” meaning to “pinch” or “pluck”.

Axe Soup
I came back to Pennsylvania from a winter break in the south right before the big snow storm hit yesterday. One of the biggest disadvantages of doing that is that I’m low on food supplies and don’t want to venture outside even for the necessary grocery shopping. First, it’s too cold and the snow is 15 inches high. Second, it’s MLK Day and I’m not sure if anything is open. Walmart, probably. Third, I don’t even want to take my car on the snowy road.

Welcome to Olive Hell and Why I Gag at the Thought of Eating Them
I was recently reminded of an experience with olives where I nearly threw up at my relative's house. A few years ago, I took a business trip to a city in the Northeast that was within twenty minutes of where my Aunt and Uncle lived. There was no way I could sneak into the vicinity and not stop in to see them.

Aftermath: Part III, The Good, The Bad, and the Imaginary
Previously: (Part 3 of a 5 part series) "Betting on a coin flip would be wiser than opening a restaurant. A celebrity chef, a franchise, or a popular trend all lend you a higher possibility for success. But It also means pinning success to reputation and fashion. It may seem secure, but it's almost as much of a gamble. Mario Batali."
