After getting off to a good start with the first goal, the home team saw the Garnets put in the next four. So it looked like a long night. But the boys did regroup and a game was had.

Photo by Rubenstein Dog Days : The Yankees fall from Grace and Return to Glory - 1964-1976 By Philip Bashe, the 1994 novel is not only one of the best sports book I have ever read, for me, it’s one of the best books period. Maybe a time Yankee fans would like to forget, the people behind the unraveling provide just as human a story as all the glory that proceeded. That said, Bashe does a masterful job conveying anecdotals and keeps you wanting more. So I just wanted to provide some tidbits and here is my first installment. 1965 will be next.

He was a New York City businessman who owned a large pharmaceutical company and his big financial claim to fame kept us all on the move. Mother Sill’s Travel Remedy was used for motion sickness, and the acreage he bought served as a family farm and a summer retreat. The house that stands was moved in 1898 when the New Croton Dam was built, and in 1968, Westchester County purchased 777 acres of the property. For recreational purposes, the cows, pigs, goats, chicken and vegetable rows are meant to show what life was like at the turn of the 19th century.

A 14-14 tie for the Section One Title, the ball was suddenly on the ground, and Hudson Ruby’s eyes opened. “I saw the ball, reacted, and I was like, I got to get that,” said the defensive tackle.

Somers Moves onto Semifinals with 28-9 Defeat of Averill Park
Click for all fall slideshows On Friday November 22, Somers traveled to Shenendehowa High School for a rematch of last year’s regional final versus Averill Park, and for the third time in three games, the Tuskers did not score first. “People might think we are regressing,” said running back Mason Kelly. John Jay Falls in Regional Final

Section One versus Section Two, the games all started close, but too much heigh, and too much hitting proved the difference.

John Jay Takes Section One Title
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons Click for all Fall Slideshows After defeating Ardsley in a five set marathon on Thursday November 7, John Jay won a berth in the finals at the Westchester County Center on Sunday, and Lakeland stood in their way. One versus six, the previous encounter betrayed the numbers. The first two sets to Lakeland, John Jay kept their heads up and swept the final three. So when John Jay pulled the reverse and won the first two, the same possibility had to creep in. But as usual, Coach Rizzotti stayed the course.
