Writer's Block

Say It Plainly

By Rebecca PattonPublished about an hour ago 1 min read

Writer's block,

Oh dear writer's block,

Why must you afflict me so?

I sit down in my chair,

Excited to write my story,

Knowing what I want to write,

But as soon as my fingers are on the black keys,

The exact words leave my brain.

I ponder,

I agonize,

But no matter how many words I type,

I end up hitting the backspace button,

All because I am not satisfied,

Thinking that it should be better.

When before I could type almost a mile a minute,

Now it takes me half an hour,

To strangle a few words from my imagination,

If that.

The only cure,

Is to keep going,

So here I am,

Forcing myself to write,

Because I want my dreams to live,

Even though writer's block,

Oh dear writer's block,

Wants them dead.
