This is actually one that I wrote a couple years ago as a transformation poem, but the inverse challenge reminded me of it, so posting it here with a few tweaks!

A spring in her step,

summer in her smile,

a laugh for winter days.

She picks up a book.

Dressed in brown leather,

here lies her page

pale in its glory.

Β

Her leathery face

drawn and worn with age

displaying her tired heart.

So softly she sits

on crisp white elm wood,

a loved yet faded story

finally open to the world.

With pages to discover,

her life on display.

Love the imagery of both book and person, and the change that comes upon them. Nice:)

This is uplifting both ways, how we can bring gentleness and vigour both to our lives.
