the hungry mouth of death's machine

~

i chew bullets in my dreams

wake to nightmares, gums are bleeding,

'pull the fucking trigger'

whines my metaled teeth,

the death machine wants feeding

.

grab the battle axe and grind it

always drug-of-choice be needing

in this hellscape we call life

i'm addicted to the scheming

.

slut for power

slut for fame

in this gilded cage remain

swallow down that key

of selfish prison

stay in this grotesque game

.

where's a saviour when you need one,

dead-end alley drug crusade?

i search for angels in each caustic bin, give in

the death machine wants paid

.

invite the devil on your doorstep

there are no survivors here

embrace the lying face, the bastard race

the blame, the shame, the fear

.

clutch that rosary tight to ward off

the gangrene that's setting in

peal the deadened haze back from the root

to reveal the blight within

.

for the death parade is marching

resplendent finery on display

a nod to brain rot and mass pollution,

an inner dilution of morality

.

pitch out ethics

toss ideals

torch erratic emotional feels

become a vessel for the puppeteer

cos no one fucking cares

.

break my teeth on gold of fools

smear the lamb's blood in disgrace

yet nothing stops this cavalcade

i'm shattered and defaced

.

so what will be my culmination

who'll win my soul's revolt?

will the death machine come a-wheeling

and grind me to a pulp?

.

drag me down the ruddled street

my sins on full display

my self-esteem torn and shredded

spilled innards bruised and flayed

.

bloodied hands slip on the trigger

hollow chamber spits its rounds

words and slurs and slurs and words

i'm drowning in the sounds

.

pierce my heart, i just don't want it

rupture ears so they can't hear

bind these hands from claiming violence

blind my eyes from meeting sneers

.

i taste metal on my dying tongue

the beat of drums is closing in

the marching band screams brassy threats

my skull splits from the raucous din

.

please lie here in my final hour

keep vigil with your hand in mine

i'll endure this unrelenting pain,

delay the breaking news headline

.

beg for answers til i last draw breath

search grave dirt and reflections

there are layers to this earthly plane–

not random permutations

.

i see them as i sink below,

these gilded hesitations

not bullets but reminders that we're

stardust generations

.

i fix my gaze on heaven's sky

lament the precious days I've lost

no death machine

on death parade

can spare me from this vision's cost

.

we're miracles of the cosmos

despite how we leave this world in tatters

how our souls cry with injustice

judgement all that seems to matter

.

our perspective needs a drastic shift

our breathing needs to change

our compassion must bloom and grow again

for we're children of a crossroads age

.

we must grasp the yoke of self-reflection

demand a better destiny

prove we're more than just our tragic flaws

dress with the sheer garb of sanity

.

break free from selfish adulations

nourish seeds of servitude, not pride

break the hungry {mouth} of death's machine

and embrace the world

with tongues afire

I suspect there will be many and varied takes from readers, in all you have written here. It outlines the chaos of the current world and its greed and cruelty. Shift in perception and compassion, yes!! Well done!
