The concrete garden cracks its skin
where silicon used to scream
Will a verdant tide come rushing in
to end the digital dream?
π₯
We traded wells for server farms
and lakes for a faster feed
now nature hangs her head in shame
because of frantic greed
π₯
The clouds are dry, the rivers ghost
to keep the cooling fan
We toasted to a hollow host
and lost the soul of man
π₯
Each pixel cost a gallon's breath
to cool the metal brain
We chose a fast and flashy death
instead of falling rain
π₯
The servers drank the rivers dry
to render empty art
While hollow code began to fly
and tore the world apart
π₯
We sacrificed freshwater springs
for prompts on polished glass
While thirst began its bitter stings
amidst the dying grass
π₯
We laughed at lies of painted light
and pictures made of code
While silence claimed the quiet night
down every parched abode
π₯
Will petals bloom where giants fell
in dryness deep and vast?
Will there be a green and growing funeral bell
for a world that could not last?
This is my entry for Tim Carmichaels unofficial challenge. You can read about it here:
Authors note: I chose to write my piece in the future where our world couldn't last the massive amounts of water stolen by AI. It's a problem. I am not trying make anyone feel bad, just trying to raise awareness. Water is a finite resource. Please keep that in mind before generating just anything.

You've perfectly portrayed how our future would be. There are so many finite resources that are taken for granted. It's just so sad. Loved your poem!
Wow, the rhymes, the message. This earth deserves so much better than how we treat it :( Really beautiful Sara.β€οΈ
