ILLUSIONS OF LOVE

Deja vu whispers mockingly encoded with a warning, as creeping thorns bind me piercingly.

Lesson repetitive; imprisoned once again by my own absurdity, with pain as my teacher.

Unable to escape its familiar, menacing embrace causes me to reflect anew,

with its constriction, as the briers perforate causing realization to bleed.

Tears spill over my eyes to stream upon my face, as the memories echo.

The disrespect allowed, the lies I told myself, defending my yesterday lover.

Leisurely, the love I was bestowed was replaced, with growing contempt.

However, as I search the memories we shared; I comprehend his artful finesse

Illusions of love created more accessibility for him, as he kissed the brashness away.

Resounding epiphany, yet I know this revelation wasn't born of this failed romance.

Derived, of other lost relations, clumsily earned by my crumbling boundaries

Though, I let go more quickly within the rotation, it was on a path to near a full cycle.

Fleeing with my wounds, and bittersweet emotions, since the lesson returned

For lack of recognizing the ill-fated pattern of abuse, at its onset.
