We evolved for one environment,
and now live in another.
Stress is inevitable,
and it is hazardous,
it can steal all joy.
We sure don’t want that,
so healing is needed,
ways to de-stress must be found.
They don’t have to be big.
I was reading, writing,
painting and self-reflecting.
I stretched, put legs on a footrest,
had a glass of water, some snacks,
all these helped.
But I needed a break,
so, stepped into the backyard.
There were finch sings.
a sparrow foraged under hollyhock,
Star jasmine perfumed the air,
vibrant nasturtiums bloomed,
guavas hang from the trees,
Swallows flied in the blue sky.
the sun touches my skin.
It was mighty healing,
I returned to workstation
recharged, restored.
