Every year, a mountain village celebrated a quiet ritual. Residents wrote unchosen paths—dreams abandoned, words unsaid, chances missed—onto small paper lanterns. When released, the lanterns didn’t float upward like normal. They drifted sideways, weaving between trees as if searching for the lives they might’ve belonged to. One evening, a girl wrote, I wish I had been braver. Her lantern circled back, hovering in front of her until she lifted her gaze. Only then did it rise into the sky. Some said the lanterns didn’t carry regrets away—they simply waited for the moment a person chose to step forward without them.

Life will find a way
One cocoon twitches; my screaming must have disturbed it. It’s followed by a sound like the shaking of a cobra’s tail. A dry rattle sends a shiver down my spine. The rest of the cocoons respond the same way, as if communicating with one another; the cave fills with rattling. The glow becomes stronger as they vibrate and bathes the cave floor in an eerie blue light.

Alright, let's not fuck about - here is what you need: Ingredients: 350g self raising flour 90g butter pinch of salt tsp of baking powder 3 tbsp caster sugar (or just normal white sugar would probably be fine) 175ml milk a squeeze of lemon a drop of vanilla an egg fresh strawberries, if they're in season Extra flour Even more flour Dried fruit (I consider this completely optional and usually leave it out)
